Vision
The increasing availability of private capital creates an unprecedented opportunity for the best entrepreneurs. And yet, most still cede the value of their hard work to institutional investors. Macoto is built on the idea that it is possible and desirable to restore this balance through focused preparation, organizational clarity, and operating rigor.
While our backgrounds are in the private equity and venture capital ecosystem, we operate a unique, independent model focused on investing our own capital and time in value creation that is responsive to the needs of each leadership team. For us, there is no confusion about where our interests should align.
Great businesses and strong teams have no trouble raising capital today. We commit to always consider the best interests of founders and executive management before advising on capital structure decisions, whether for liquidity or growth. And, while we can assist in structuring change-of-control transactions, we do not require that a founder cede control or the majority of economic upside.
Engagements
We plan for multi-year collaborations that leverage financial oversight, operational consulting, and leadership coaching. Our team draws support from an extended Collective of 30+ post-exit founders, fractional executives, technologists, institutional investors, and financial professionals, with a focus on the emerging mid-market of North America.
Direct equity investments align our interests with those of the ownership group.
Quarterly retainers scale to address the company’s advisory needs, and can include engagement as board members.
Equity-linked compensation ties to long-term value creation achieved together, and includes time-vesting and performance-vesting features, with operator-friendly termination provisions.
